Switzerland for Expats

Lost and found

Have you recently arrived in Switzerland and feel completely overwhelmed by the new system, the new culture, the new language und all the weird Swiss habits? Has your employer sent you to Switzerland? Have you moved to be with your partner, who has found a new job here?

No matter why you are here. Living abroad can be fun - or not! If you are struggling to understand the Swiss culture. If you can't find access to the local community. If you feel lonely - you are not alone!

I know what you are talking about ... Although my English was no problem and I was an experienced traveller, my first year living abroad was difficult. Without family and with only a few friends around, I struggled to settle into the Australian way of life. If you feel the same way, there's no need to be ashamed!

Let me answer your questions about Switzerland. Together, we will find out how you can adapt more easily to the Swiss lifestyle and feel at home abroad! Together, we will find your happy place - inside and out!

Häufige Fragen

I recently moved to Switzerland and still don’t feel settled. Is that normal?

Yes. Starting a new life in another country can be both exciting and challenging. Many expats experience feelings of loneliness, uncertainty, or the sense of being caught between two worlds.

Do I need to be in crisis to benefit from this support?

No. Often, it is not about a crisis but about finding orientation, personal growth, or the desire to feel more grounded and connected in your new environment.

I have everything I wished for – why am I still not happy?

Moving to a new country brings many changes. Even when everything seems right on the outside, feelings of doubt, homesickness, or inner emptiness can still arise. I offer a space where these feelings are welcome and can be explored.

I feel torn between my old home and my new one. Do others feel this way too?

Yes. Many expats find that they do not feel fully at home either here or there. This sense of ambivalence is a normal part of relocating your life to a new country, with a different culture and often a new language. Building new roots takes time.

Can I receive counselling in English?

Yes. My services are also available to English-speaking individuals who live in Switzerland or are beginning a new chapter of their lives here.

Who is the “Switzerland for Expats” programme for?

This programme is designed for people who have moved to Switzerland for work, studies, love, or a new phase of life and would like support with settling in, finding their footing, and navigating this transition.
